“MCALPINE MILLER HAS ONE OF THE MOST CREATIVE MINDS IN ART TODAY, AND HE’S ESTABLISHED A PROCESS THAT FOLLOWS NO MASTERS... LOOKING AT HIS CANVAS IS LIKE WATCHING A VIDEO GAME FEATURING PETER MAX SCUFFLING WITH BASQUIAT AND KEITH HARING SCRAPPING WITH ED RUSCHA. MOVE OVER THOMAS KINKADE, MCALPINE MILLER IS TODAY’S MASTER OF LIGHT. “ © ESTELLE LOVATT, FRSA

History of The Gart
THE GART WAS BUILT IN 1835 BY FAMOUS ARCHITECT WILLIAM BURN. IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY THE HOUSE WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE. IT WAS RECAST AND ENLARGED IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY IN THE BARONIAL STYLE YOU SEE TODAY. THE GART IS SURROUNDED BY ITS DESIGNED LANDSCAPE WITH MANY RARE SPECIMEN TREES. A FORMAL LAWN LIES TO THE REAR WITH A WOODLAND AND PRIVATE ACCESS TO THE RIVER TEITH
DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR THE GART WAS RECOMMISSIONED AS A HOSPITAL FOR INJURED NORWEIGAN SOLDIERS. IN MORE RECENT YEARS THE HOUSE HAS BEEN A HOTEL, A B&B AND A PRIVATE FAMILY HOME.
WE PURCHASED THE GART IN 2016, HAVING ALWAYS HAD A PASSION FOR MIXING MODERN WITH TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE. WE SPENT AN ENJOYABLE EIGHTEEN MONTHS RENOVATING AND RESTORING THE GART TO THE CONTEMPORARY HOME YOU SEE TODAY.
